Students get the opportunity to cheer at St. Thomas More beginning in third grade. We have three cheerleading squads – third & fourth grade, fifth & sixth grade, and seventh & eighth grade. Tryouts are not required for any of the three squads. We have three different moderators for the squads: third & fourth – Megan Yoder, fifth & sixth – Morgan Olinde, seventh & eighth – Karen Saunders. Cheerleaders participate in cheering on different STM sports teams. This varies depending on the grade-level squad you are on. The third & fourth grade squad cheers at home and away football games. The fifth and sixth grade squad cheers at home and away football games. While both fifth and sixth graders cheer at the football games, only the sixth grade cheerleaders cheer at home CSAL girls and boys basketball games. The seventh and eighth grade squad cheers together at home and away football games as well as home CSAL girls and boys basketball games. The cheerleaders participate in a variety of other events throughout the year depending on the squad such as riding in a Christmas parade to cheering on the school at assemblies and pep rallies. Cheerleading is a wonderful and fun way to get involved in school.
