Band at Saint Thomas more is open to all 4th-8th grade students interested in learning to play a musical instrument. Instruction is offered on flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, and percussion.
The Beginning Band (those who have had no prior instrumental music experience) meets after school until 4:30. The class is split into two sections--Woodwinds (Monday, Wednesday) and Brass/Percussion (Tuesday, Thursday).
The Advanced Band is for students who have had at least one year of instruction on their instrument and would like to further develop their musical skills. It meets in the mornings starting at 7:30 on the gym stage Monday-Wednesday.
Performance opportunities include the Christmas Concert, Spring Concert, and District Festival. Advanced Band members are eligible to participate in the East Baton Rouge Parish Honor Band.
The band is under the direction of Daniel Modenbach.
